Job description
Caron Equipment Inc. is seeking HSE Coordinators (Health, Safety and Environmental) at a project site near Gogama, Ontario to work on a rotational basis. Reporting to the HSE Lead on the project, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to provide HSE support on a major project.
Responsibilities

Maintain the effectiveness of the HSE management system and providing support to its application on the project

Ensuring compliance with legislation, policies, guidance, and best practices across the project

Assisting in the development of Safe Work Plans, Hazard Assessments, Emergency Planning, etc.

Assist in ensuring that the workforce is provided with the tools and knowledge to allow them to work within the safe operating envelope of legislation, procedures, and competence

Highlight HSE issues, make recommendations and/or provide coaching (based on reports, audits, and incident analysis) that will be implemented to enhance HSE performance

Provide field level HSE support, guidance, and leadership

Examine HSE trends and proposing actions to prevent recurrence of incidents, accidents, and near-misses

Participate, and if required facilitate in Root Cause Analysis of incidents

Working in conjunction with local project HSSE teams to create a positive safety culture

Establish a working relationship with subcontractor representatives, ensuring an adequate interface with Caron Supervision in matters related to HSE

Building a culture of personal accountability where safe behaviours are reinforced, and at-risk behaviours are challenged

Coordinating production and distribution of all HSSE statistical information for the projects/office on a monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad-hoc basis and undertaking data analysis in order to identify project safety trends

Coordinating HSSE training sessions, maintaining training records, and communicating reporting expectations

Support the coordination of environmental issues
Skills / Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of HSE advisory experience on medium to large scale, heavy industrial projects

Due to the large percentage of time spent in the field, candidates must be able to perform physical activities such as extended periods of walking in areas of uneven ground conditions in varying environmental conditions, climbing stairs, scaffolds and ladders, entering confined spaces and excavations. Additionally, extended periods of time are spent driving around the construction footprint in a four-wheel drive pick-up truck over varying, sometimes very rough terrain with frequent need to access/egress vehicle to check on status of work

Recognized Safety Certification by accredited association is preferable

Strong understanding of the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations 213/854
